Best Halloween Movies for Kids & Where To Watch Them
It's officially fall and time to get into the Halloween spirit. The days and nights are starting to get cooler and the leaves are (slowly) changing this year. Halloween is my favorite holiday, and both of my kids seem to like it too, even though they're young. We've started watching Halloween movies on all of our streaming and cable services to get excited for the holiday and trick or treating. Although they are "kid" movies, I know many adults who love these movies just as much as they did when they were kids, myself included. Here's a list of our favorite Halloween movies and shows for kids (and adults) and where you can watch them this year.
Hocus Pocus
This is, in my opinion, the most classic kids Halloween movie. I watch it about 15 times during the Halloween season, anytime I see it on tv (usually on Freeform channel if you have cable). It's also on Disney+ so you can watch it whenever you want. This classic follows 3 witches that come back from the dead when the black flame candle is lit on Halloween night. Recent news has been shared that Hocus Pocus 2 will be coming out too, next year!
Where to watch? Freeform Channel (cable) & Disney+
Halloweentown
Halloweentown is another classic kids Halloween movie that shows the whimsical town where it's Halloween all year. Disney+ has all four of the Halloweentown movies streaming, and it also plays on Disney channel throughout the season.

Haunted Mansion
Haunted Mansion is a "scary" comedy that takes place in a Haunted Mansion where a realtor becomes trapped in the mansion. If you and your kids have ever been to Disney World and went on the Haunted Mansion ride, this movie is extra exciting because you feel like you've experienced it first hand.
Where to watch? Disney+
Toy Story of Terror
Although it's not technically a move, Toy Story of Terror is a short 22 minute film that follows the toys we all know and love that mysteriously start to go missing. If your kids love the four original Toy Story movies, they'll love this Halloween twist with their favorite characters.
Where to watch? Disney+
Monsters Inc & Monster's University
Right now we are definitely on a Monsters Inc kick, we watch it almost every day. Luckily there are two Monsters movies and Disney+ even has a series called "Monsters At Work." Between these 3 series/movies we get a good variety of following Sully and Mike through their scares at work.
Where to watch? Disney+
Goosebumps
This was one of my favorite spooky shows as a kid. R.L. Stein who created the Goosebumps books, transformed it into a TV series in the 90's, which follows his kid friendly, but spooky, scary stories. There's 5 seasons of the series available to watch and each episode is a different scary story.
Where to watch? Netflix
Are You Afraid of the Dark
Are You Afraid of the Dark is another TV series that started in the 90's that shares scary stories which are kid friendly. It's a group of friends that gather around a camp fire and tell a scary story, which usually has a positive ending. This show was also remade in 2019 which can also be found on Paramount+.
Where to watch? Paramount+
Hotel Transylvania
Hotel Transylvania has 3 released films that follow an animated hotel where monsters go to relax away from humans. The "horror" comedy franchise will be releasing a 4th film this fall, most likely on streaming on Amazon Prime Video joining the other 3.
