When I was a kid we had a closet full of all different board games and we played them often as a family. It was a lot of fun and something that is nostalgic to me. I knew when I had kids I wanted to have a bunch of games for them as well and even though they're still slightly too young to play most of them, we have a whole closet full that I have collected over the past few years. Board games are fun to play no matter what way you play them. You can play the traditional in person games or you can play the same games online. My kids do love playing games on their tablets so it's a good way to start teaching them how to play.
Why Play Games Online?
You Don't Have Lots Of Space
If you live in a smaller space and don't have the extra closet space for board games to be stored in, you can still play all of the games you want. Online games only need to be accessed by one device which could be a tablet, computer, or cell phone.
Going On a Road Trip
What better way to pass time when you're on a long road trip than to plan some games? With so many to choose from you'll have hours of entertainment available. Board games, card games, logic games, and puzzles are just a few categories of games you can play.
Can Play Solo Or With Someone
While you may think the games online would be available to play solo, many of them can be played with multiple players, either against the computer, or your friends! I actually really enjoy playing games against the computer, and even though you may think it's set up to make you lose, it's not! Playing against the computer is no different than playing against a friend of family member, you still never know who will win the game.

There's an endless amount of games you can choose from if you choose to play them online! Any one you can think of is on there to play, and even games you've probably never heard of. The other thing that's great is you can easily look up the rules for games if you want to play games you've never played before. Chutes and Ladders
Chutes and Ladders was always a favorite of mine growing up. I played with my family a lot of the time and had fun going up the ladders and down the chutes because you never knew what you were going to get. You can play this online board game here.
Connect 4
Connect 4 is a fun and strategic game that's easy to play. All you need to do is get four of the same color in a row either vertically, horizontally, or diagonally. Play against your friend or play against the computer with this game. This is an easy game for kids to learn how to play since it has very little rules and is easy to do.
Simon Says
Although this isn't really technically a board game it's still a great memory game. You can play it with our without sound, however I like to play it with sound because it makes a little song out of the pattern it gives you. My kids love listening to the song and trying to follow along with the pattern of the lights.
Guess Who
When I think of ALL the games I played as a kid with my friends, Guess Who is what comes to mind first. There were a few different board versions of it and it was always so much fun to narrow down the person the other person picked out of the bunch. It's a great way for kids to be observant of small details and use that to try to filter out who it may be.
